About Genesis
Genesis operates throughout the world in both established and developing regions, giving producers, processors and manufacturers access to trade in their local markets and the international markets.
Genesis Expertise
Genesis began life in the UK as an expert alternative to the UK Red tractor farm standards.
We have a long heritage of standards development and operation, first as an independent operator in the UK market and subsequently following acquisition by NSF-CMi, now NSF International, with a combined experience of 100 years of developing and operating accredited and non-accredited standards in the US, European, Asian, African and Latin American markets.
While operating independently, Genesis is able to call upon the substantial international resources of NSF International, which include laboratory and testing facilities, technical and scientific expertise and a global office network.
Governance
In accordance with good practice, all Genesis standards are developed in an open and transparent way, with as much stakeholder engagement as possible. This ensures that each standard delivers what is needed in that particular sector, technology or species. Each standard is developed by technical experts invited to participate in the Genesis Technical Advisory Board (TAB) which comprises a balanced representation of significantly interested parties.
Draft technical requirements and conformance guidance for new standards are published for open consultation through our our industry-wide consultation list.
The Technical Director of Genesis Standards is responsible for the implementation of policies and standards, as well as facilitating the approval of Certification Bodies and the mutual recognition or benchmarking with relevant schemes that have an equivalence of assurance outcome.
Ownership
Genesis Standards is an independently operated, wholly owned subsidiary of NSF Safety & Quality Ltd., part of NSF International. NSF International is a not for profit foundation that is committed to protecting and enhancing public health.
Certification
Genesis relies on independent third-party product certification to confirm conformance with our published standards. Certification bodies are required to operate in accordance with EN 45011/ ISO 17965 for evaluating conformance and producing scheme certification documentation.
Authorised certification bodies will have a signed agreement with Genesis and will seek accreditation within an agreed time frame.
